Ian Watson and Jim Slater co-founded Galahad Gold in 2003. The company, listed on AIM, made four mining investments, all of which were sold by 2008, producing an IRR of 66% per annum. In 2008 Ian Watson and Jim Slater co-founded Agrifirma Brazil Ltd in the belief that Brazil is ideally positioned to satisfy the world’s demand for high-quality foodstuffs, given its excellent soil, weather and highly trained and able people.

The great majority of the capital raised has already been invested in the acquisition and ongoing development of farmland in Brazil. Agrifirma has to date acquired 42,000 hectares of land in Western Bahia. In addition, the company has been granted an option over a further 27,000 hectares.

Shareholders are advised of the company’s net asset value twice a year. Land is appraised by the independent Brazilian consultancy firm Scot Consultoria as at December 31st and June 30th each year. Other assets and liabilities are as per the company’s management accounts or, once they are available, the published audited accounts. The company’s financial year runs from July 1st to June 30th. The latest appraisal was carried out at December 31st 2009.
